ABOUT US

At Animal Wellness & Behaviour, our work sits at the intersection of practical handling experience, evidence-based animal behaviour, and real-world operational systems.
Our team is led by Shayne and Chloe, two trainers with complementary backgrounds who work across pet dogs, working dogs, rescue environments, and professional facilities. Together, we support not only individual dog owners, but also industry professionals and organisations seeking higher standards of handling, safety, and welfare.
Chloe
Chloe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and is the owner and operator of Animal Wellness & Behaviour. Her work is grounded in evidence-based learning theory, behavioural science and behaviour modification, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building, communication, and long-term outcomes.
Chloe works extensively with companion dogs, behavioural cases (including reactivity, aggression and anxiety), and early-development programs such as puppy development, alongside running a structured dog daycare that prioritises social skills, emotional regulation, and appropriate dog - dog interaction. She is deeply involved in education - not only for pet owners, but also for industry professionals, and regularly supports councils, rescues, pet businesses, and trainers seeking to improve their training systems and staff education pathways.
ShaYne
By way of background, Shayne brings experience from a Special Forces and Australian Army instructional environment, with extensive involvement in kennel facility management, staff oversight, and operational procedures within high-risk, high-accountability settings. This background has shaped a training and handling style that is calm under pressure, highly structured, and grounded in safety, clarity, and consistency.
Shayne works across working dogs, behavioural rehabilitation cases, rescues, and companion animals, with a particular focus on developing clear handling systems that support both the dog and the human at the other end of the lead. He also works closely with organisations - including councils, pet businesses, daycares, and other training facilities - to support staff capability, confidence, and consistency in animal handling roles.
Our Combined Approach
What sets our team apart is the combination of operational experience and scientific grounding.
Together, we work across:
Working dogs and high-drive behavioural cases
Pet dogs and family companions
Rescue and rehoming environments
Structured daycare and socialisation programs
In-depth puppy development, offered on a high quality level
Staff training for councils, pet shops, daycares, and other training professionals
We are highly active within communities across the Sydney region, supporting both the general public and fellow professionals through education, mentoring, and hands-on training. Whether we’re working with a reactive pet dog, developing staff handling systems for a council facility, or mentoring other trainers, our focus remains the same: clear communication, confident handling, and welfare-led outcomes that stand up in real-world conditions.
Who We Are
Hello, I am Trainer Chloe!
AW&B Founder, Professional Dog trainer & Canine Behaviourist
I founded Animal Wellness & Behaviour in 2020, at just 21 years old, while completing my Animal Science degree - and right at the start of a global pandemic. What began as a bold step into an uncertain industry has since grown into a thriving business that changes the lives of dogs and their families every single day.
My journey hasn’t been linear. I was once told the animal industry was too competitive and that I’d never make it. I drifted between different jobs and degrees before deciding to follow my passion and study Animal Science, which opened doors for me to work with animals across diverse environments - from marine ecosystems to Australian bushlands. It was during this time that I realised my calling wasn’t just to “work with animals,” but to truly help - by building better connections between people and their dogs.
The turning point came when my childhood Labrador, Lucy, became unwell. Searching for ways to support her led me to dog training, where I quickly saw it was far more than teaching obedience cues - it was about saving lives, preventing rehoming, and rebuilding trust between dogs and their families. I also discovered that real success in this field isn’t just about training dogs; it’s about teaching and empowering people. That belief continues to guide everything I do today.
I quickly learned that my true passion is working with complex behavioural issues - particularly aggression and severe cases that many trainers avoid. Where others might shy away, I found my calling. These dogs and their families need help the most, and I thrive in the challenge of guiding them through situations that feel impossible. For me, behaviour work isn’t just stimulating and mentally challenging; it’s deeply meaningful. While many trainers may move into sports or obedience work, I’ve chosen to stay rooted in behaviour because it’s where I can make the greatest impact and truly give owners and their dogs the relationship with one another that I believe every handler and their dog deserves.
Since starting AW&B, I’ve built a strong, compassionate team that shares my vision: to educate, support, and create an inclusive community where no dog is considered “untrainable.” Every day, I wake up grateful to do the work I love - helping people and their dogs live harmoniously together.
