  • No, we do not offer walk and trains here at animal wellness and behaviour as we want to focus on teaching YOU how to manage, handle and train your own dog so that YOU can reap the benefits of a stronger relationship between you and your dog.

but, if that’s not enough, here are some more reasons why we do not offer walk and train services:

    1. In general, dogs with behaviours we want modified because they are dangerous, out of control or just plain hard to handle, are usually a symptom of a much bigger issue and usually are the result of a relationship breakdown between you and your dog. Now when a trainer comes in and says they will fix these issues without you, you can see why these results wont be long lasting or even beneficial for YOU in the long run if your relationship with the dog stays the exact same.

    2. Your dog may act totally different with a complete stranger because they don’t know or trust that person enough to react or act like they do with you. A lot of the time when a dog is completely different with another person who isn’t you, straight away, is just because there is no relationship there to begin with so the dog is somewhat on edge or a bit shut down thus not expressing their normal behaviours. If they do express those behaviours straight away and the trainer deals with those behaviours without you- your dog just learnt they can rely on this person to help them in a way they can’t with you.

    3. When a trainer then puts rules and boundaries on your dog and enforces these rules and boundaries, your dog just learns, that’s what they do with THAT specific person. The trainer, (if they are decent) will teach your dog what position to be in and what to do in specific moments with them, and wont allow for incorrect positions (think a heel position) through rules, boundaries and correctly timed corrections and rewards. Things, that if not taught thoroughly to YOU as well just wont transfer over easily.

    4. Considering the relationship between you and your dog needs to be helped, no matter what the walk and train trainer does, if you change nothing and aren’t given the information to change anything, this will ultimately fail. You need to be given guidance on how to mange your dogs day to day, how to do the training with your dog, how to implement and help develop confidence of your dog, to be there to pay those massive wins and learn how to handle your dog if something does go wrong so that you are fully prepared to help your dog through any relapse or bad situation that can randomly arise.

    5. For long lasting results, YOU want to be the main trainer, caregiver and relationship your dog has. YOU want to be present in helping your dog overcome challenges and build resilience. Helping your dog starts with changes YOU make with your dog, not someone else, and that’s why here at AW&B we strive to give YOU the information to know what to do, and when to do it when us trainers aren’t there too.

  • You must be committed to training every day outside of our sessions. Without you practicing what we teach each session, your dog will not learn. This means that upon signing up for our programs, you are able to make time to walk your dog daily and put in the work required (yes, even on weekends).

Our programs involve a lot of changes which you MUST be open too. If you are not open to trying new things and changing things to implement more structure into your dogs life, then our services are not for you.

This is more so people training than dog training… We will teach YOU how to be a better owner and handler for your dog so that you can train your dog with our guidance and help!

  • We train all types of dogs and work with all different types of behavioural problems. So yes, we can train your dog, no matter what but the results are dependent on you and your efforts as an owner outside of sessions.

We work with aggression and anxiety, we work with basic obedience and puppies.

We work with all breeds at all ages from 8 weeks to 10+ years.

Although, we only work with those who are willing to put in the work outside of sessions.

  • Training a puppy starts the day you bring them home.

If you need help with at home set up, toilet training, basic structure and boundaries and other foundation skills then we recommend booking in a trainer right away. This should be arranged before you even get the puppy.

If you know the basics and haven’t seen any out of the ordinary issues with your pup, we recommend booking in some sessions around the 5-6mnth mark (if you need it).

  • Depending on what program we decide is best for your dog, normally sessions run for a full hour. Single one off sessions can have additional time added and puppy sessions will often go for roughly 45mins - 1hr.

  • Each dog is quoted differently based on what program best suits them. We also have a few program options to choose from that vary in length and content. Pricing is also quoted based on your location, dogs age and other factors.

  • The best way to get in touch is to fill out our application form linked here .

This allows us to assess your dog and be able to provide you with some more information and what program we think is best. From there we send a program overview with more information and pricing.

You are also more than welcome to call our admin team or send an email.

Our trainers also offer zoom/facetime consults if you wish to speak with a trainer before booking.
